
Albert ROBINSON 20/29, Private. b. 1895, Clayton d. 22nd April 1918 (aged 23).
The second Albert Robinson from Clayton to die, Albert had moved to Thornton as a child and grew up at 22, Hill Top Lane. He married Florence just before joining up and they settled in nearby Cullingworth.
He enlisted on 21st October 1915 into the 20th (Reserve) West Yorkshire’s and was sent as a reinforcement to the 1st Battalion in 1916. He fell in the fourth week of the 1918 Spring Offensive and is buried in Haringhe (Bandaghem) Military Cemetery near Poperinge after dying of his wounds.
His headstone carries the inscription “Husband of Florence E. & son of Hudson & Harriet Ann, Thornton, BFD.”.
